Frozen Tozen Tug of WarThe 4th Annual Boulder Junction Frozen Tozen Winter Festival will be held on Saturday, February 18th.  Bring family and friends to Boulder Lake for the Frozen Tozen, featuring an ice fishing tournament, warm food and drink, a raffle, an exciting game of ice golf, turkey bowling, snowshoe relays, tug of war, hockey games and ice skating. Best of all, these fun activities support community projects. All ice fishing tournament proceeds support the Boulder Junction Boat Landing Improvement Fund, while proceeds from ice golf benefit the Community Food Pantry.

Tournament registration begins at 10:00am at the Boulder Lake landing, with walk-in registrations welcome throughout the day. The tournament runs from 11am-5pm. At only $20 for adults and $10 for kids 14 and under, the tournament is fun and affordable for everyone. New this year is a team division. 2 to 6 individual registrants may also sign up as a team for no extra charge. Awards will be presented to top anglers in the adult and junior divisions as well as an overall team award.

Frozen Tozen Winter Fest (Ice Fishing Tournament) Rules & Regulations

Frozen Tozen Ice FishingThe ice golf and turkey bowling will take place any time between 11am-4pm, enjoy this wintry take on a classic sports. A course of 4 holes will be played; a long drive contest and 5 frames of bowling will also be featured. A non-perishable donation to the Community Food Pantry is your fee to participate. Prizes will be awarded to both adult and junior golfers & bowlers. You can take part in one or both activities.

Let’s not forget the snowshoeing and hockey! At 11:30am head out on the lake with your snowshoes, your family and friends for snowshoe relays.  Various relay races will be held, so bring a team or we’ll pick teams at the start of the races.  Finish the snowshoe fun off with a tug of war!  Snowshoe activities will end around 1:30pm. From 1:30pm to 3:30pm head out to the skating area for some hockey influenced games.  A limited supply of ice skates and snowshoes will be available, but participants are encouraged to bring their own.

At 5:30pm, join us at J.J.’s Pub & Grub on Main Street Boulder Junction for the awards ceremony. In addition to the Scott Kimball Award for the largest catch in both the adult and junior division, each division will also award prizes for the largest fish caught in each of the following categories: Walleye, Small Mouth or Large Mouth Bass, Pan Fish (Bluegill, Perch and Crappie), and Northern Pike.  The team catching the most total inches will receive the Team Award.

Frozen Tozen GolfAfter the divisional prizes, stick around for the raffle drawing! Tickets for the raffle are available now at the Boulder Junction Chamber, Gooch’s A-1 Bar & Grill, Headwaters Restaurant & Tavern, J.J.’s Pub and Grub and Northern Highland Sports.  Grand prize is a weekend vacation package, valued at over $500, including 2 nights lodging at White Birch Village, fishing with Erv Keller Guide Service and meals at local establishments.  Many other prizes will also be raffled off.  Tickets are just $1.00 each or six for $5.00.  As with the tournament proceeds, the raffle will also benefit the Boulder Junction Boat Landing Improvement Fund.

Staying for the weekend? Have breakfast with the Snowmobile Club on Sunday, February 19 from 8:30am to 12:30pm. A delicious breakfast buffet will be served at Headwaters Restaurant and Tavern.
