Hunting & Shooting Range

The largest single area of public hunting land in Boulder Junction is the Northern Highland–American Legion State Forest. The forest totals 225,000 acres and includes hundreds of lakes and a number of areas that are carefully managed as ruffed grouse and woodcock habitat.

Another community resource is the Boulder Junction Shooting Range, offering trap, skeet, rifle, pistol and archery. The range is located east of the Trout Lake Forestry Headquarters on Highway M.
