Boulder Junction is a Northwoods biking destination perfect for any rider. We’re located on a paved bike path that extends 50 miles, with outstanding mountain and fat bike trails nearby and surrounding forest roads ideal for longer rides. Here’s what you need to know about biking in Boulder Junction.

The Heart of Vilas County Paved Bike Trail System

Boulder Junction is home to the beautiful Heart of Vilas County Paved Bike Trail System. The trail began as just a short loop around Boulder Junction’s baseball park, but grew into a premier Northwoods trail.

Today the trail connects Boulder Junction with Manitowish Waters and Mercer to the west and Sayner and St. Germain to the south. The trail is paved and appropriate for all types of bicycles. It’s a fantastic place for a ride and is close to many of our lodging properties and restaurants. Learn more about the trail here.

The Lumberjack Trail

Just outside Boulder Junction you’ll find this scenic off-road trail. It offers more than 12 miles of riding and connects with the Escanaba-Pallette Lake Hiking Trail. Pets are allowed when there is no snow. A state trail pass is required for bicyclists. Learn more about the trail here.
