Why is Boulder Junction the Musky Capital of the World®?

By Tyler Warhurst

Boulder Junction is widely known as one of the best places on earth to catch a trophy-sized muskellunge. But why? Here are three reasons.

1. Huge number of lakes – You’ll find 194 lakes in the community Boulder Junction. That gives musky anglers a variety of options, from small, undeveloped lakes to the 3,800-acre Trout Lake.

2. Clean, clear water – Muskies grow big and fat in the gin-clear waters of Boulder Junction’s lakes. On many of these lakes, you’ll find cisco, an oily baitfish that helps a musky grow big and fat.

3. A history of big fish – Over the decades, Boulder Junction’s lakes have consistently produced some of the biggest fish caught during the musky season.

If you want to greatly increase your chances of catching a trophy-sized fish, choose Boulder Junction when the musky season opens May 24.
