Boulder Junction Public Library “Art in the Library” October Exhibit – Diane Schauss
October 1 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
The Boulder Junction Public Library welcomes the public to view their next “Art in the Library” exhibit. The Library Art Committee and Board of Trustees selected artist Diane Schauss for the October exhibit. Her artwork will be on display in the Reading Room, above the photocopier and in the Children’s Area during regular library hours.
Diane began painting in the late 1960’s. She joined an oil painting class in Roselle, Illinois. The class was taught by renowned ‘dog and horse’ artist Iwan L. Lotton whose clients included Arthur Godfrey and Roy Rogers. Iwan and Diane became fast friends. After his death in 1973, his students asked her to continue to teach the oil painting class and she did so until 1978 when she began a career in real estate.
Her real career lasted until 1996. Diane retired to Boulder Junction and married Warren Schauss in 1999. They began spending winters in Harlingen, Texas and, in 2012, Diane joined an art class to learn Pastel painting. Once again, she started to paint in oils as well. By 2015, the teacher asked Diane to teach the class due to her husband’s illness.
At present, Diane teaches three months a year in Texas and paints at her home in Boulder Junction as well.
Diane loves to paint nature scenes in a realistic fashion and use both oils and pastels as her medium. She is inspired by the ‘Old Masters of the Renaissance’ where pastoral scenes evoke a peaceful and calming effect on the viewer.
