Northern Waters Genealogical Society Meeting “Using Social Security Records for Genealogical Research: An Often-Overlooked Resource for the Family Historian”

The Northern Waters Genealogical Society invites you to their next meeting on Tuesday, September 5 from 7-9 pm at the Boulder Junction Community Center, 5392 Park Street.
This month’s program will be “Using Social Security Records for Genealogical Research: An Often-Overlooked Resource for the Family Historian” with featured speaker, Don Schnitzler. Social Security applications and files hold genealogical information which can give us clues, new information, and an enriched knowledge of our ancestors. Join us as special guest speaker, Don Schnitzler, shares his knowledge and expertise on the history of these records, as well as where and how to find them.
Don Schnitzler has more than 40 years of experience in local and family history research. He is an instructor and locally-recognized lecturer, specializing in basic genealogical research techniques and community history. In 1998, he received a Local History Award of Merit from the Wisconsin State Historical Society and, in 2010, the Historic Preservation Medal of Honor from the Wisconsin and National Societies of Daughters of American Revolution. He served as coordinator and co-editor of the book, The Marshfield Story, Windows to Our Past.
