Third Thursday Theatre: Green Book
May 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The Boulder Junction Public Library invites you to attend “Third Thursday Theatre” this summer. The first movie of the summer will be Green Book and will be shown on Thursday, May 16 at 7 pm.
Academy Award ® nominee Viggo Mortensen (Eastern Promises, The Lord of the Rings trilogy) and Academy Award ® winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Hidden Figures) star in Green Book, a film inspired by a true friendship that transcended race, class and the 1962 Mason-Dixon line.
When Tony Lip (Mortensen), a bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx, is hired to drive Dr. Don Shirley (Ali), a world-class Black pianist, on a concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South, they must rely on “The Green Book” to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for African-Americans. Confronted with racism, danger as well as unexpected humanity and humor—they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime.
Green Book won the 2019 Oscar for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. Mahershala Ali won the 2019 Oscar for Supporting Actor. The movie is rated PG-13 and is 130 minutes in length.
All movies are FREE to the public and will be shown on the big screen in the Boulder Lake meeting room in the Boulder Junction Community Center. Complimentary popcorn and lemonade will be served.
Not all movies will be appropriate for young children, please refer to movie ratings or read movie reviews. For questions and further information, please call the library at 715-385-2050 or email [email protected].
