“Art in the Library” – Photography from Jeff Halverson
An event every day that begins at 12:00 am, repeating until December 31, 2021
The Boulder Junction Public Library welcomes the public to view their November/December “Art in the Library” exhibit of photography from Jeff Halverson. The art is on display during regular library hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday 10 am to pm; and Tuesday and Thursday 10 am to 7 pm.
Jeff Halverson has had a deep connection to the Northwoods and Boulder Junction his entire life. His grandparents purchased land in Boulder Junction back in the early 1960’s. In 1972, Jeff’s parent’s, Paul & Pat, bought a lot on a small lake within a few miles of Boulder Junction. With the help of extended family, his parents built a cabin which later became their home and is still a favored family destination.
Although Jeff’s home wasn’t in Boulder Junction during his youth, he spent most of his summers with his mother and sister up at the “cabin” learning how to fish and explore what nature had to offer. Hours upon hours were spent fishing from his grandparent’s canoe while gaining a great appreciation of the wonders of nature. Jeff believes that his childhood experiences in Boulder Junction gave him a profound appreciation of the natural environment around him.
As a life-long photographer, Jeff has been watching and observing his entire life. The key to wildlife and nature photography, according to Jeff, is understanding your subject profoundly, so as to predict and anticipate when and where to get a great photograph. Good photographs take lots of planning, and patience, but the end results can be amazing!
Besides nature photography, Jeff’s business pursuits revolve around weddings, high school senior photographs, family events, and sports, especially football. However, nature photography is Jeff’s true passion, with the Boulder Junction area giving him great satisfaction and lots of opportunities to shoot. Whether it’s the white deer of Boulder Junction, morning sunrises, loons, bald eagles in flight, or fall colors reflected on a calm lake, Jeff always has his camera with him and looks for the next great shot. In fact, when Jeff goes on a fishing trip these days his gear includes rod & reel, tackle box, snacks, and his camera!
Jeff has been shooting photographs professionally for the past eight years. His work can be found on his website at Jeff Halverson Photography, LLC (www.jhalversonphotography.com). Current work may be found on Facebook (Jeff Halverson Photography, LLC) and Instagram (@jhalversonphotography) too. He occasionally gets photos accepted and published in Our Wisconsin Magazine. For the past six years, Jeff has also been donating time as an event photographer for Agrace Hospice in Madison.
Jeff currently resides in Oregon, Wisconsin with his wife and two boys. He’s entering his 30th year as a teacher in the School District of Janesville, the last 20 as a 1st grade teacher. Of course, Jeff’s photography is shared with his students so they, too, can gain a greater appreciation of our natural world.
