Benefit Concert for Lelyn Schmidt

Lelyn is a 7.5 year old boy that was born with a extremely rare condition called Mathew Wood Syndrome (stra6 deletion) He is currently the ONLY child living with the syndrome out of 6 who either didn’t make it out of the womb or past an hour of life. He was born without eyes (Anophthalmia), lost his hearing at the age of 2 (deaf) cochlear implanted at the age of 5 in his left ear & he also wears a hearing aide on the right ear. His lungs, heart & GI system are also greatly affected by the syndrome. He has several medical conditions that need to be addressed on a daily/monthly basis with trips to Children/s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI and also Marshfield Children’s Hospital, Wiseman Center for Genetics in Madison and home monitoring done by the parents. After a 14 day hospital admit for his GI system having a blockage, he was deemed Failure to Thrive without have a Cecetomy Port and GTube surgery done. In September he under goes surgery for his heart and will have further lung testing done on his underdeveloped left lung.

Held outside of the Boulder Junction Community Center on Hwy M with plenty of room for social distancing.
Hand sanitizer stands set up on sight, feel free to wear a mask. Bring your chairs and enjoy some amazing music, all proceeds will go to Lelyn Schmidt.
