CANCELLED – Build Your Boulder Business: Lunch & Learn – Becoming a Dementia Friendly Business & Community

Presented by Amie Rein, Family Caregiver/Health and Wellness Coordinator at the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Vilas County, the goal of this program is to develop an educated, understanding community within Vilas County to reduce the social stigma associated with memory loss, Alzheimer’s or other dementias. This will ease fear and isolation, and by easily accessing local resources people can live well with dementia.
A dementia friendly community enables those with dementia to:
- Find their way around safely
- Access local businesses they are familiar with and where they are known (e.g.: banks, shops, restaurants/cafes, the post office, grocery stores, and gas stations)
- Maintain their social networks so they continue to feel like they belong
This session is coordinated by the Town of Boulder Junction Economic Development/Connect Communities Committee. All are welcome to attend any or all of these sessions.
