History Hike on the 6-Pause Portage Trail
December 30, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join local historian, Jim Bokern, and a Discovery Center naturalist for a hike on the 6-Pause Portage Trail. Learn about the people who created and used this historically significant trail, linking the Manitowish River and Mercer Lake, through beautiful forests and wetlands. The hike is about 2 miles in length and the trail is moderately strenuous, with brush and uneven ground, and may be difficult for folks with balance issues. Walking sticks are recommended. Registered participants will receive an email 24 hours prior to the hike with a link to view a bonus presentation by Jim, that will provide visuals and historical context for the portage trail, as well as the trailhead location and other program details.
Registration is required by December 29.
