These programs provide introductory information on a variety of topics that help community members learn ways to support their health and wellness all winter long. \nThe series is being held on Tuesdays at 11am in the Boulder Junction Community Center from January 20th through March 10th. Check the library website for new programs being added to the series. \nJanuary 20: Lia Montgomery will offer a single session of her HeArt Centered Meditation practice with a focus on 2026 inventions and resolutions. She will also explore the major Astrological events of the year\, allowing participants to consider our place on the Planet. \nJanuary 27: Vanessa and Will Tippett from Seasons of Balance of Minocqua will share the benefits of Float Therapy sessions. Float Therapy involves the float therapy pod – also known as a sensory deprivation tank – a sight and soundproof environment filled with 10 inches of water that has been saturated with Magnesium sulfate\, allowing the body to float easily. The pod deprives senses which allows for an engagement of deep meditation and healing. \nFebruary 3: Naomi Kauppi provides an introductory class of Asahi Nordic Exercise. Designed in 2004 in Finland\, Asahi uses modern sports science with a holistic approach to synchronized gentle movements with slow breathing. Asahi is great for all levels and abilities from athletes seeking post-workout recovery\, individuals looking for stress-relief\, to those who are searching for a gentle reintroduction to exercise. \nFebruary 10: Bryn Lottig\, manager of Unwind Spa in Woodruff\,  will share an introduction and demonstration to sound therapy. Sound therapy is used to help bring balance to the body and mind by aligning frequencies that promote relaxation. \nFebruary 17: TBD \nFebruary 24: Author Terri Leedom discusses her book Play the Game: A Caregiver’s Journey of Navigating Dementia with Patience\, Humor\, and Love\, a memoir of navigating her mother’s journey with dementia. Leedom will share how she balanced helping her mother through the disease and finding peace and will share helpful suggestions on self-care for caregivers. \nMarch 3: TBD \nMarch 10: Join Caroline Thompson from the Vilas County Public Health Department for a walkthrough of the MyPlate Nutrition Guide. SUMMARY:History of Moonshining in the Northwoods with Jim Bokern at Boulder Beer Bar
DESCRIPTION:The presentation will begin at 6:00pm and run until roughly 7:30. This is a free event to attend so come grab a table or barstool\, order some dinner and bask in some local history. Jim is going to take us back in time to learn about Moonshining and its effect on Vilas and surrounding counties. We’ll learn about the people\, the process and many local sites around our area that served as stills\, caches\, and establishments where the shine was served. \n\n\nAlso included in the event we will have the wonderful folks from Northern Waters Distillery on hand to teach us about the modern moonshining process. Head Distiller\, Jake Walish\, will be teaching us about the current operations underway right down in Minocqua. We’ll be having some of the distillery’s Moonshines on hand that we’ll be tasting and sampling as Jake shares his knowledge with us. (Complements of BBB)!

DESCRIPTION:Join Discovery Center Naturalists as we travel along the Lumberjack Trails in Boulder Junction. Learn about this unique area and seek out animal sign as we enjoy our time in the woods. Attendees will be provided headsets for ease of listening/learning while out on the trail!
