NLDC Hike Logging Camps and a Local CCC Camp
November 7, 2020 @ 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Join local historian Jim Bokern from the Manitowish Waters Historical Society and a Discovery Center Naturalist on two historical hikes exploring Vance Lake, the Manitowish River and the administrative CCC Camp known as Camp Mercer. We will explore a mysterious logging site, river drive logging booms, a resort site on state-leased land and archaeological remnants of Camp Mercer. This is a moderately challenging hike that includes both on-and off-trail hiking. Masks will be required for this program. Register by November 5. Registered participants will meet at the Discovery Center and caravan to the sites. $40 ($35 members of the NLDC or MWHS).
