“Oceans of Possibilities” Outdoor Movie Nights

The library invites you to attend Outdoor Movie Nights this summer. All family-friendly movies are FREE to the public and will be shown on a big screen in the grassy field behind the Boulder Junction Community Center. Seating will not be provided; please bring blankets or chairs. Free popcorn and lemonade will be provided, but outside snacks and refreshments are also allowed. Bug spray is advised.
The first movie will be shown on Thursday, June 9 (rain date Friday, June 10). The movie will be Luca. Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, Disney and Pixar’s original feature film “Luca” is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta, and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, Alberto, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface. This animated film stars the voices of Jacob Tremblay, Francesca Fanti, Gino D’Acampo, Maya Rudolph, and Jim Gaffigan. The movie is rated PG and runs 101 minutes.
The second movie will be shown on Tuesday, July 5 (rain date July 7). The movie will be Finding Dory. “Finding Dory” reunites the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish with her loved ones, and everyone learns a few things about the true meaning of family along the way. This animated film stars the voices of Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Hayden Rolence, Ed O’Neill, and Kaitlin Olson The movie is rated PG and runs 103 minutes.
The third movie will be shown on Wednesday, August 24 (rain date August 25). The movie will be Moana. From Walt Disney Animation Studios, a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who is inspired to leave the safety and security of her island on a daring journey to save her people. Inexplicably drawn to the ocean, Moana convinces the mighty demigod Maui to join her mission, and he reluctantly helps her become a wayfinder like her ancestors who sailed before her. Together, they voyage across the open ocean on an action-packed adventure, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills her quest and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. This animated film stars the voices of Auli’i Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson, Temuera Morrison, Rachel House, and Nicole Scherzinger. The movie is rated PG and runs 113 minutes.
Outdoor movies are weather dependent. If the move must be canceled due to rain, it will be posted on the library’s Facebook page and website. Due to using shared equipment on a tight schedule, there will only be one alternate rain date if canceled due to poor weather. Admission, popcorn, and lemonade are free. Not all movies will be appropriate for young children, please refer to movie ratings or read movie reviews.
