UW-Trout Lake Station Open House
July 30 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
After a year of all virtual programming, Trout Lake Station is excited to invite members of the public to join us at our 10th annual open house!
Just north of Minocqua, scientists are hard at work doing research on everything from invasive species and sportfish populations to wild rice and water quality. Each summer, the station picks an afternoon to open its doors to the public so that anyone interested can learn about that research at our in-person, hands-on outreach event.
Friday, July 30th, from 1pm to 5pm, UW-Madison’s Center for Limnology invites you to Trout Lake Research Station to learn what, exactly, all those research boats are doing around Vilas County and how what researchers are learning helps keep lakes healthy across Wisconsin and the world.
Visitors can spend half an hour or the whole afternoon meeting the plants and fish that call Vilas County lakes home, learning about current research projects, doing aquatic-themed crafts and talking to our scientists about anything and everything to do with Wisconsin’s freshwater ecosystems.
Free ice cream treats will be provided and the event is free and open to visitors of all ages. Please join us for this “behind the scenes” tour of Trout Lake Station, where University of Wisconsin researchers are doing world-class research on Vilas County lakes.
The event will be held outdoor on the Station grounds and station staff are taking measures to promote proper distancing. Masks are welcome but not required.
We look forward to seeing you there!
