February 16 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Looking for ways to stick to your New Year’s Resolutions? The Boulder Junction Public Library is offering a series of FREE informational presentations to help patrons learn ways to support their health and wellness this winter -and all year long. For the safety of our staff and patrons, all programs will be held online using Zoom and will be open to everyone.
The library will be hosting a presentation with Jeff Kersten, Agency Liaison with the Bureau of Consumer Protection within the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection on Tuesday, February 16 from 2:30-3:30 pm via the Zoom meeting platform.
Kersten will present “Identity Theft: Protect and Prevent.” Identity theft continues to be the fastest growing crime in the United States. The more people learn about it, the less vulnerable they are. The Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection will explain the different types of identity theft, how to recognize it and how to prevent it – including information about Fraud Alerts and Security Freezes. Participants will receive tips for safeguarding personal information and how to spot the red flags of a scam.
Jeff Kersten is the Agency Liaison for the Bureau of Consumer Protection within the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. As the Agency Liaison, Jeff travels around the state to educate the public, businesses and law enforcement on the importance of privacy protection and data security. Jeff has over 12 years of experience as a police officer and is a prior Consumer Protection Investigator for the Bureau of Consumer Protection.
