SUMMARY:OurStory: Monthly History Series at the Boulder Junction Library
DESCRIPTION:Close Encounters of the Steam-Powered Kind \nThe Boulder Junction Public Library and the Boulder Junction Area Historical Society bring back the OurStory Monthly History Series for 2026. OurStory highlights local history or an area of interest that helps us remember the past\, understand how it impacts our present\, and preserve these memories for the future. \nOn Thursday\, June 25\, author and editor John Zimm presents on his extensive research on a series of airship sightings that occurred in Wisconsin and around the nation in 1896 & 1897. Six years before the Wright Brothers completed their famous flight at Kitty Hawk\, cigar-shaped airships were seen in the skies over Wisconsin traveling at improbable speeds\, fascinating and baffling observers. Come hear Zimm tell stories from the sightings and hear some theories about what people might have seen. \nThis program is free for all to attend. Light refreshments will be served. For more information\, call the library at 715-385-2050 or email info@boulderjunction.wislib.org.

SUMMARY:Boulder Junction Public Library Winter Wellness Series
DESCRIPTION:The Boulder Junction Public Library is offering a series of FREE informational presentations this winter. These programs provide introductory information on a variety of topics that help community members learn ways to support their health and wellness all winter long. \nThe series is being held on Tuesdays at 11am in the Boulder Junction Community Center from January 20th through March 10th. Check the library website for new programs being added to the series. \nJanuary 20: Lia Montgomery will offer a single session of her HeArt Centered Meditation practice with a focus on 2026 inventions and resolutions. She will also explore the major Astrological events of the year\, allowing participants to consider our place on the Planet. \nJanuary 27: Vanessa and Will Tippett from Seasons of Balance of Minocqua will share the benefits of Float Therapy sessions. Float Therapy involves the float therapy pod – also known as a sensory deprivation tank – a sight and soundproof environment filled with 10 inches of water that has been saturated with Magnesium sulfate\, allowing the body to float easily. The pod deprives senses which allows for an engagement of deep meditation and healing. \nFebruary 3: Naomi Kauppi provides an introductory class of Asahi Nordic Exercise. Designed in 2004 in Finland\, Asahi uses modern sports science with a holistic approach to synchronized gentle movements with slow breathing. Asahi is great for all levels and abilities from athletes seeking post-workout recovery\, individuals looking for stress-relief\, to those who are searching for a gentle reintroduction to exercise. \nFebruary 10: Bryn Lottig\, manager of Unwind Spa in Woodruff\,  will share an introduction and demonstration to sound therapy. Sound therapy is used to help bring balance to the body and mind by aligning frequencies that promote relaxation. \nFebruary 17: TBD \nFebruary 24: Author Terri Leedom discusses her book Play the Game: A Caregiver’s Journey of Navigating Dementia with Patience\, Humor\, and Love\, a memoir of navigating her mother’s journey with dementia. Leedom will share how she balanced helping her mother through the disease and finding peace and will share helpful suggestions on self-care for caregivers. \nMarch 3: TBD \nMarch 10: Join Caroline Thompson from the Vilas County Public Health Department for a walkthrough of the MyPlate Nutrition Guide. The program will include a recipe demonstration and food sample. \n  \nRegistration is not required but is appreciated. SUMMARY:Artist Reception at the Boulder Junction Public Library
DESCRIPTION:The Boulder Junction Public Library welcomes the public to view their December Art in the Library exhibit featuring Joanne Morgan. The artwork will be on display during regular library hours. Meet Joanne and view her work at an Artist’s Reception to be held on Saturday\, December 13 from Noon-1:30pm in the library. Refreshments will be served. \nTaking photos of wildlife has been Joanne Morgan’s passion. It allows her to be out on her kayak or walking in the woods enjoying all the natural beauty. Over the years\, she has gravitated toward chickadees\, swans\, loons\, and eagles and\, in doing so\, she has watched and learned so much about these birds. \nWith no formal training\, Joanne has learned from trial and error\, getting out often\, and from belonging to the Lakeland Photographic Club. There she has found mentors and inspiration by watching how others utilize their camera and how they see the scenes differently. She has grown as a photographer just being around them.Belong to the Lakeland Photographic Club has also allowed Joanne to display and sell her artwork at the Great Northern Coffee Shop\, the Minocqua Public Library\, the Campanile Center\, and the North Lakeland Discovery Center. This will be the Arbor Vitae resident’s first exhibit at the Boulder Junction Public Library. A few years ago\, Joanne submitted a comical photo of a frog to Our Wisconsin magazine and won a pecan pie. Proof that hard work pays off! \nTaking photos of wildlife has given Joanne a great appreciation of our world and how important it is to preserve nature\, not only for the animals\, but for ourselves as well. For questions about the Art in the Library exhibits\, the application process\, or the Artwork policy\, please email the library at info@boulderjunction.wislib.org or call the library at 715-385-2050. \n\n\n\n Add to calendar

Bring your acoustic instrument\, your voice\, or just come along to listen to a gathering of music enthusiasts and have fun! \nThis musical gathering is held the second Tuesday of each month from 5-7pm in the Boulder Junction Community Center or outside in the Lions Pavilion or Library Reading Garden\, weather permitting . For the first hour of our gathering\, we will choose easier songs that any ability level can play or sing along to\, with chords and lyrics available to supplement. The second hour will be for more advanced songs\, including those brought by others in the group. \nFor more information or questions\, please contact the library at 715-385-2050 or email northwoodsmusicgathering@gmail.com.
