The woods are covered in snow and the trails are marked—it’s almost time for the 2nd annual Forest Frenzy Winter Triathlon, coming up Saturday, February 16, in beautiful Boulder Junction.
This ski/snowshoe/fatbike event—the first outdoor winter triathlon of its kind to be held in Wisconsin—is expected to attract participants and spectators from across Wisconsin and the Midwest.
The triathlon includes a 7.5-kilometer cross-country ski course, a 5-kilometer snowshoe course and a 7.5-kilometer fatbike course.
Participants can register to compete as an individual or as part of a three-person relay team, with each athlete taking on an individual segment of the race. Registration is limited to 100 racers. Advanced registration is recommended.
The Forest Frenzy will be headquartered at the historic Camp Manito-wish YMCA, and the race will take place on the wilderness trails of the scenic Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest. The course will lead racers through tall trees and more beautiful Vilas County scenery.
Registered athletes should follow the Forest Frenzy Winter Triathlon on Facebook for race week updates and course conditions.
