Overview:

What to expect at the Community Sports and Recreation Area:

Playground: With brand new equipment installed in 2023, this playground is built for kids ages 2–14+ to explore, play, and take on new challenges. From musical and inclusive play features to a zipline and ninja warrior course, there’s something to spark every kind of adventure. The fun doesn’t stop there – with covered picnic tables, benches for relaxing, a Little Free Library, and a permanent Book Walk, families can enjoy a full day of play all in one spot.

Tennis + Pickleball Courts: With recent updates the tennis and pickleball courts are ready for action in Spring and Summer! If you are interested in meeting new pickleball enthusiasts, join a pick up game on Monday, Wednesday, or Saturday 8am-12pm throughout Summer.

Basketball Court: A game of horse is calling your name! Newly renovated and expanded in 2025, the half size court went to a regulation size high school court with brand new hoops and team benches. There are basketballs to borrow on-site but it is recommended to bring your own.

Skatepark: The skatepark offers a wide range of equipment which makes it perfect for skateboarders of all abilities. Located near the ninja warrior course the skatepark is great for older park goers.

The Earl Sturm Memorial Baseball Field: Free to use and open to the public whenever there isn’t a game going on. Grab the family and play a game of baseball, T-ball, or kickball!

Heart of Vilas County Pave Bike Trail: The 50+ mile paved bike trail runs right through the sports and recreation area and connects you to downtown Boulder Junction and surrounding communities.

Tall Pines Disc Golf Course: This 18-hole disc golf course is a brand new addition to the sports and recreation area. Finished in late 2025, 2026 will be its first full season. The entrance is located directly behind the Community Center next to the Lions pavilion. There are some discs for borrow on-site or you can purchase your own at Northern Highland Sports, Coontail, or the Joyful Loon.
