Boulder Junction is a great destination for your first (or next) fishing trip, but there are a few things you should know before you head out on the water in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Our Fishing 101 series is here to help!
Fishing for bass? Here are some helpful hints:
- Most lakes in Vilas County (especially in and around Boulder Junction) have decent populations of bass–mostly smallmouth, but there is a substantial number of largemouth in some lakes
- Fish in shady areas or around structure
- Use a lure that mimics what the bass are eating (like crayfish and minnows)
