Overview:
Established in 1925, the Northern Highland American Legion (NHAL) State Forest occupies more than 236,000 acres and has 900 lakes, 18 campgrounds, 11 hike/ski/snowshoe trails, 50 miles of paved bike trails, more than 100 remote/canoe campsites, 400 miles of snowmobile trails, three shooting ranges, and several picnic areas. Please check at the visitor station to learn where pets are allowed.
Hours:
Crystal Lake Visitor Station– drive up window open 8am-8pm daily. All campsites are reservable May 15-October 31, except Upper Gresham, North Trout, Starrett, Razorback, East and West Star which are on a first-come, first-served basis. All camping is self check-in.
