No matter where you go fishing in Wisconsin, you’ll need a fishing license (unless you’re under the age of 16). Where can I go fishing in Boulder Junction?
Take your pick: there are nearly 200 lakes within a 10-mile radius of downtown Boulder Junction, including nearly 50 Class-A musky lakes. Some of the most popular public-access lakes in the Boulder Junction area include Trout Lake (3,864 acres; common fish include musky, panfish, smallmouth bass, northern pike, trout, and walleye), White Sand Lake (746 acres; musky, smallmouth, walleye), Big Muskellunge Lake (897 acres; musky, panfish, largemouth bass, walleye), and Upper Gresham Lake (362 acres; panfish, musky, largemouth, walleye). Anglers can also try their luck on the Manitowish River, a popular paddling destination.
Do I need a boat to go fishing in Boulder Junction?
Not at all! There are lots of great shoreline fishing opportunities in Boulder Junction, including at many of our lakeside cabins, cottages, and resorts, and at public fishing piers throughout Vilas County (you’ll find one at Upper Gresham Lake southwest of Boulder Junction along U.S. Highway 51).
