Hike of the Day: Lumberjack Trail

Hike up to twelve miles of trails winding through dense forest and expansive wetlands. Bald eagles are often soaring over the nearby Manitowish River and White Sand Creek. Many aquatic wildlife thrive in both waterways, such as river otters, muskrats, trumpeter swans, ducks of various species, and blue herons. This trail system features towering red pines, stands of hemlocks, and maples for hiking enthusiasts to enjoy.
The Lumberjack Trail also connects with the Escanaba-Pallette Lake hiking trail at the trailhead on Highway K. Leashed pets are allowed year round.
Length: Green trail- 2.94 miles; Blue trail- 4.57 miles; Red trail- 4.57 miles
Location: From Boulder Junction, continue east on Old Hwy K approximately 1 mile to Concora Road where you will find the parking area on the left. An additional trailhead is located off Hwy K, by following Hwy M south about 2 miles to Hwy K and turning east.
