Fishing 101: The Best Time to Catch Musky

Boulder Junction is a great destination for your first (or next) fishing trip, but there are a few things you should know before you head out on the water in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Our Fishing 101 series is here to help!

If you’re looking to catch a musky in Vilas County, the best times are in late spring and early summer after spawning and in late fall, when the massive fish are fattening up for winter. In springtime, use spinners or smaller lures; in fall, bigger baits (like crankbaits) are better.
