I am Boulder Junction: Pet Friendly Favorites
April 9, 2025
Meet the people who make Boulder Junction a great place to live, play, and stay. “I Am Boulder Junction” highlights the stories and personalities of our local business owners and community members and the welcoming spirit and boundless enthusiasm for the Northwoods you’ll find on your next visit here.
In Boulder Junction, the bond between people and their pets is celebrated in every season. We spoke with a few of our locals to uncover their favorite places to relax, explore, and enjoy quality time with their four-legged friends.
Where do you take your four-legged friend?
Judy Tegtmeyer, CEO, Camp Manito-wish: Boulder Junction is awesome for four-legged animals. Going to Nichols lake is great for swimming and beach work. Going to the Lumberjack Trail for hiking and also just getting out snowshoeing in the winter with animals is fun.
Kate Frisk, Library Assistant, Boulder Junction Public Library: I have two wild obnoxious dogs and they love going to Winter Park. The library actually has a book walk out there in the winter time and my dogs are always happy to come out with me and check up on it.
Don Zander, President, Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club: There are a lot of nice places for dogs, they have a good life up here. They don’t have to be tied up and stuff all the time either so they get their exercise in and you get your exercise too.
Patrick Downs, Owner, Mad Dog Jake’s: Walking down Main Street is my favorite place to go with my dog. She is very friendly and enjoys walking up and down the street.
Heidi McCowan, Owner, Fiesta on the Lake: At Fiesta on the Lake we welcome pets and four of our cabins have pet friendly policies. There is plenty of room to roam and of course for dogs that love swimming in the lake it’s a great opportunity for families to come and enjoy that.
Curtis Cecchi, Owner, Fox Valley Outdoors Guide Service: It is a running joke around town that I keep a wolf in my car but it’s just my 90lbs dog, Bear. Her absolute favorite thing to do is walk in the woods and there are plenty of trails to get out and do that.
Bre Miner, Owner, Aqualand Ale House: One of my favorite features of Aqualand is our large beer garden that we allow families to come and enjoy with their fur babies. It is a really nice place to unwind in the Northwoods, have some fresh food, a cold beer, and listen to live music on the weekends.
