June 14, 2023
Headed to the Northwoods of Wisconsin this summer? There’s a lot to see and do in and around Boulder Junction, so here are a few things you should know before you get here, from what to pack to which trails and lakes to explore.
What kind of weather can I expect?
Northern Wisconsin can be beautiful in the summer, with temperatures in the 70s and 80s (temps in the 90s can happen here, but they’re pretty rare). High temperatures in Boulder Junction in June, July, and August average in the mid to upper 70s, with average lows in the 50s. Generally, there are about 8 or 9 days out of each summer month that see rain.
What should I pack?
While the weather can be beautiful, it can also vary, so it’s important to pack warm-weather gear (shorts, T-shirts, etc.) but you might want to bring a sweatshirt or long pants for the evenings and maybe a raincoat in case you need it.
If you’re going to be out exploring in the woods, you might want to pack long sleeves and pants (or at least bug spray) to deal with any pesky insects.
And don’t forget your swimsuit! Boulder Junction is home to lots of lakes with sandy swimming beaches—here are three to check out, and many of our lodging properties have private beaches, too.
If you’re looking for gear, you’re in luck, too. Boulder Junction is home to sports shops and outfitters that offer everything you need for a Northwoods adventure, and you can find equipment rentals at places like Coontail Adventures and Schauss Woodworking.
Are there trails to explore?
