Campanile Center: Soul of Langston
February 8 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
What would Hip-Hop be without Langston Hughes’ poetry, or the Civil Rights Movement without the flourishing of the Harlem Renaissance? Soul of Langston answers that question in an extraordinary one-man show exploring the life and legacy of American poet, playwright, and civil rights activist Langston Hughes.
Set in his study, Langston reflects on the triumphs and tragedies that shaped his journey—from his days as a “busboy and poet” to becoming Harlem’s Wonder, a literary force who helped lay the foundation for the Civil Rights movement through the Harlem Renaissance.
Soul of Langston brings to life the bittersweet wit and wisdom of Hughes’ poetry, blending jazz, blues, and storytelling to craft an inspiring tale of resilience and persistence—daring you to dream.
