Paddling Gem: Day Lake
June 2, 2022
Day is lake is a one of Boulder Junction’s scenic, undeveloped lakes. Managed by the Wisconsin DNR, Day Lake is considered a State Natural Area as of 1983. The water in Day Lake is of great clarity with water so clear you can see the sandy bottom and bass swimming beneath your watercraft.
The lakeshore is made up of towering White pine trees, and aspen trees which allow for great contrast for the eyes of paddlers. It is not uncommon to encounter loons, and a variety of duck species on this small, 117-acre lake.
With its various bays, Day Lake makes for a great meander on kayak, canoe, or SUP. There are two NHAL primitive, boat-in sites that can be reserved online 12-months in advance. To reserve one of these campsites go to this site.
